SUAREZ DELIGHTED

The Honduras national team manager Luis Fernando Suarez has said that he is extremely delighted with the performance of his players after managing a shock 2-1 win over the United States. Honduras came into the match as one of the underdogs, but they were able to return away with the World Cup qualifying match finishing as a 2-1 squad for the home team.

Suarez will certainly have reasons to be happy because Honduras have suffered just one defeat in the last five matches. Even though the United States were able to take the lead in the first half through a goal from the Tottenham striker Clint Dempsey, Honduras always created chances in the match.

They equalised through Garcia after just 4 minutes. The two teams went into the half-time break level, but a goal from Bengtson in the 79th minute handed the home team huge boost. As a result of this 2-1 victory, Honduras still have a chance to qualify for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. The team will be having yet another difficult match in the form of Mexico in March. Suarez will be hoping that this recent run of form can help the team overcome Mexico as well.

“We’ve shown some very interesting things today. Taking the balance things were very positive. In terms of our football, we knew how to take advantage of the space and time they gave us, though maybe in the midfield we weren’t as fine as we could have been. If anything can be improved it would be when that we get into the last 20 meters, to do some things differently,” said Suarez after the match. “We knew coming here it was going to be a difficult game, and it was,” said the United States manager Jurgen Klinsmann, who also paid tribute to Honduras.
