Honduras national team boss Jorge Luis Pinto says that his team have a huge test on their hands when they take on Brazil, who he has termed as being extraordinary.
After a year of recovering from the poor World Cup 2014 showing, Brazil appear to be on a great run of form. The team has arrived as the favourites to win the Copa America and one of their matches in preparation of this tournament is the friendly against Honduras. Honduras have been involved in a couple of friendly already and this will be the biggest test of them all.
Since managing the 1-0 win over El Salvador, the team has suffered a disappointing 2-2 draw against Paraguay. Even a similar kind of result will be seen as a successful one against five-time world champions Brazil. Even though the South American team did not have the same flair that they used to, the defence of Honduras is expected to have a tough test.Pinto has confirmed that Honduras will have a defensive approach to the game. This is to prevent a sixth straight defeat against a South American team in the last eight matches. Brazil were without star striker Neymar for the recent match against Mexico, but he is expected to be back against Honduras.
“It will be a difficult game. Brazil are extraordinary, but we will try to neutralise them. Honduras must defend well.I like playing against Brazil, we know what they mean to the world. It’s a good challenge for us.Our team are doing well and we improved against Paraguay. But against Brazil, we know we face a very tough opponent,” said Pinto. These matches will serve as a great preparation for the upcoming CONCACAF Gold Cup, which will begin in July with the opening match against United States.
