Celtic star Emilio Izaguirre has said that he wants to sign a new contract with the club that will keep him at Parkhead for the rest of his career.
The Honduras defender was previously linked with Manchester United before the transfer talks broke down. The ankle injury he suffered kept him out for a large chunk of the last season and it is thought that Manchester United would once again show interest in the 26-year-old. However, Emilio Izaguirre has revealed that he wants to stay at Parkhead for the rest of his career because he simply loves life at Celtic.
The defender has three more years left on his current deal that will expire only in 2015, but has said that he wants a new offer on the table. He has also said that he is not aware of the interest from Manchester United.
Celtic have secured their place in the qualifying round of the Champions League after winning the Scottish Premier league title this season by a massive difference over second placed Rangers. Emilio Izaguirre has said that he wants to help Celtic play in Europe this season because he has not experienced the same previously.
“I have several years left of my contract and I know nothing about other offers. I am staying with Celtic until they tell me they don’t need me. I feel very happy in Glasgow. I don’t know anything about any interest from Manchester United. We’ve won the title to get into the Champions League qualifiers. That’s important for me as I didn’t play in Europe this season. It’s one of the reasons I came to Celtic,” said Emilio Izaguirre in response to questions regarding his future. The player must the first five months of the campaign due to injury and has said that the second half of the season was a struggle due to his lack of fitness.
