Panama went behind to an Alberth Elis goal for Honduras on the half hour mark. The goal from Elis was enough to give the home team a slender advantage at the end of the first half. Honduras took a big step towards claiming their first win of the qualifiers in round three when it comes to the CONCACAF region thanks to the second goal from Brayan Moya towards the hour mark.

Honduras could not maintain their momentum as they collapsed in front of their home fans in the last thirteen minutes. Panama scored three goals in the last thirteen minutes to seal the points and establish their position in the top four.

Panama began their floodgates of goals on 77 minutes through Cecilio Waterman. Cesar Yanis then levelled proceedings four minutes later to pave the way for the winning goal from Eric Davis with five minutes left on the clock. The remarkable turnaround ensured that Panama are in touch with the top three teams namely the United States of America, Mexico and Canada. Panama are two points behind Canada in third place and three points off the other two teams after seven games. On their part, Honduras are at the bottom of the standings with three points from their seven matches after a record of three draws and four losses.
