Honduras were beaten by Nigeria in the Suwon tournament by 3-1.
The competition was organized by South Korea and serve as a preparation for teams participating in the Olympics tournament.
Nigeria already suffered two defeats in their previous games and Honduras were hoping that they could inflict further damage on the African U23 Champion.
Things started well though for Honduras when Alberth Elis opened the scoring for them in the 17th minute. This was a deserved lead for Honduras who started the match well. They kept possession and created numerous occasions in the opening stage of the game.
Despite trying to come back into the game, Nigeria will struggle to create clear-cut openings and will only threaten with a long-range shot. There was no urgency in their game, and their fans were wary of a repeat of their previous game against Denmark where they were beaten by 6-2.
The match will reach half-time with the score 1-0 in favor of Honduras. But the Nigerian team will come back stronger after the break and will take control of the game. They will be more incisive with their actions and cause Honduras to panic.
The African team will equalize in the 61st minute when AzubuikeOkechukwu. The Nigeria captain will score the equalizing goal with a thunderous strike to give his team some confidence into the game. From then on, Nigeria will take control of the game and score again in the 69th minute. This time, it will be on a penalty won by Ndifreke. Godwin Saviour took the penalty and scored to give Nigeria the lead in this exciting game.
Honduras will try to come back into the game but most of the time they will be let off by poor decision making in the last third. Nigeria will add another goal in the closing stage of the game to make the score 3-1.
