Brazil’s national team manager Luiz Felipe Scolari has said that he is extremely confident that his team can win the FIFA World Cup 2014, which will be held in Brazil. The former Chelsea manager was appointed as the Brazilian manager for the second time.
He led the nation to World Cup success in his previous spell as the manager. Hence, there have been a lot of expectations this time around, but he is yet to taste success in three matches. Brazil have played against England, Italy, and Russia in three matches since Scolari took over, but he has been unable to win even a single match.
After the 1-1 draw with Russia on Wednesday night, though, Scolari expressed his confidence in the team that they can go all the way. Many have already written off the chances of Brazil winning the World Cup after seeing these lacklustre performances in recent matches. Many expected Brazil to be flamboyant and exciting to watch after the arrival of Scolari.
The team will be having an important few months as they will be facing the likes of England in Brazil. Pressure will be high on the manager and the team. Scolari has revealed that he will be selecting a team based mostly on the players playing in the Brazilian league for the next match.
“The next squad in Brazil will be mostly Brazilian-based players. I have in my mind the squad for the games in Brazil this summer. I want Brazil fans to know we are building a strong team. I believe that for the Confederations Cup we will have a strong squad, a very recognisable squad the fans will be happy with. Everyone knows there are no shortcuts for success, you need to win in stages,” said Scolari after the draw with Russia.
