Honduras is set to face Argentina for a place in the quarterfinal of the men’s event in football at the ongoing Olympic Games in Brazil.
Both teams are in group D that also include Portugal and Algeria. Portugal have six points from the two round of games, while Algeria have no point. Only two countries can make the next cut to the knockout stages, leaving an all out war between Argentina – who want to redeem their image after a poor start at the tournament, and Honduras.

The Albicelestes lost their first game to the group leaders 2-0, but they came back when they defeated CAF Under 23 Championship runners-up Algeria 2-1. Sao Paulo striker Jonathan scored the winer with just minutes from the final whistle, giving Argentina the hope of making the next round.
Portugal defeated Honduras 2-1 in Rio, continuing their fine form after their first 3-2 victory over Algeria. Portugal scored the first two goals in the first half gave them the edge before they sealed the victory. The loss ended the run of Algeria at the tournament, despite high hopes after appearing in the final of the African tournament.
The do or die game means the winner gets the chance to continue. However, Honduras currently sit in second place due to their 0 goal difference, unlike Argentina with a goal difference of -1, despite both teams having three points each. The final round of games will be played at the same time, but in different cities. Argentina will battle Honduras in Brasilia while Portugal will play for courtesy sake with Algeria that are already out of the tournament. The winner of the Honduras vs. Argentina game will face the group lead of Group C.
