The manager of the Honduras national football team, Luis Fernando Suarez, has said that the spirits in his camp have not gone down in spite of two defeats in two matches.
According to Suarez, he and his players are still very optimistic about making it to the pre quarter final round.
Honduras’ journey in the ongoing FIFA World Cup has been far from being good. Not only have they lost two out of the two games, their goal differential is pretty bad too. They should consider themselves lucky that they are still in the tournament. Normally, after putting up two consecutive bad performances, the teams get knocked out, but, the scenario in Group E is such that no team is out as yet.
To make it to the final 16, Honduras first needs to beat Switzerland by a big margin and then, expect the French team to do the same to Ecuador.
Honduras had lost its first match against France by 0-3, while, the second match against Ecuador by 1-2. So, their goal differential is -4 at the moment. All the other teams in Group E have a better goal differential.
So, it appears to be highly unlikely that everything would fall in place for Honduras all of a sudden and they would be able to get themselves into the knockouts and Suarez knows that too.
Talking to the reporters yesterday, the Honduras boss said, “It might be hard, but, we haven’t given up on it at all. The boys are still up for it. Hopefully, we manage to win big against Switzerland and then see what happens after that.”
The match between Honduras and Switzerland will take place on the upcoming Thursday at Estadio Amazonia. The France Versus Ecuador match will go simultaneously with it.
