Honduras have been one of the surprise package is in the World Cup qualifying from the Concaf this time around. They are in with a shout of reaching the 2014 FIFA World Cup, which is incredible considering the modest strength of a team.
One of the biggest assets from manager Luiz Fernando Suarez is Boniek Garcia, who has been one of the best players for Honduras in their World Cup qualifying group this season. He has been improving in every match ever since moving to play in the MLS with Houston Dynamo.
Suarez has praised Garcia by saying that the skill and the talent has always been within the player, but it is the difference of the matters of the field that have brought about a seachange in the player. Garcia has been a relatively unknown player until now. However, after just one season in the MLS, he has become one of the household names for all football fans in the United States. Suarez has praised his commitment – both mentally and physically – has reasons for this tremendous improvement in recent years. Following results like the 2-1 win over the United States, Honduras are level on points with Costa Rica and United States in the table.
All the teams have played three matches.
“When he was [at Olimpia] he was always a very good player but he was just one more of the group. Here he’s more committed mentally and physically and he wants to be one of the frontrunners of the club. He’s one of those players who I’ll always have with me as long as I’m the coach because of the fact that I know his quality, his characteristics, I trust him and I know he’s always going to give an honest effort. They’re the ones that have supported our club as of late,” said Suarez.
